Personalization can sometimes be a bit tricky when it comes to knowing what initials to put where and how things are supposed to look. We've created a quick guide to help you with exactly how monograms should be specified when ordering, just so we can make sure your gifts are perfect.

A lady's monogram is typically done in a standard three letter format. In this format the first name initial is placed to the far left. The last name initial is larger and appears in the middle of the monogram. The middle name initial is placed to the far right.

When there is no middle name, the first name goes to the left, the last name to the right. Both letters are equally sized.

A gentleman's monogram is done a bit differently. All three letters are evenly sized. The first name is placed to the left. The middle name is placed in the middle. The last name is placed to the right.

When monogramming an item for a couple, typical decorum states that the wife's first initial is placed to the far left. The shared last name initial is larger and is placed in the center. The husband's first initial is place to the far right. (Note: it is perfectly acceptable to reverse the order of the wife's/husband's first initials if you'd prefer to do so.)
